The MNACTEC has acquired new exhibits for its scientific, technical and industrial collections, through donations or purchases. The Museum prioritises items designed and manufactured in Catalonia, but also those that have had an impact on Catalan society or represented progress in a particular technology, both in Catalonia and worldwide.
We detail below some of the most notable exhibits acquired over recent years:
- Nacional Pescara car (2024): this racing car was manufactured by the short-lived marque “Fábrica Nacional de Automóviles, S.A.”, commonly known as Nacional Pescara (1929-1932), and proved a great success in mountain races in the hands of Esteban Tort and Juan Zanelli between 1930 and 1936.
- OSSA 175 Sport motorcycle (2024): this was the first motorbike sold by OSSA. A two-seater tourer manufactured from 1964 onwards, it could attain a top speed of 136 km/h.
- Ferran i Clua holding (2024): a collection of 1,636 photographs and 13 objects assembled by the Catalan doctor and bacteriologist Jaume Ferrer i Clua (1851-1929), who conducted the first vaccinations in the Spanish state.
- Telephone booth from the 2000s [2023]: the booth, which was in service in the town of Santa Bàrbara, Montsià, was donated to the Museum by the company Telefónica de España.
- Hispano-Suiza T60RLA car [2023]: one of the last models produced by the Hispano-Suiza marque, and considered to be the best preserved.
- Netol mural advertisement [2022]: the Netol window cleaner advertisement discovered in Terrassa has been added to the MNACTEC collections and is being restored.
- Circontrol electric vehicle charger [2022]: this device manufactured by Circontrol is one of the biggest sellers in both the household and car park markets.
- Two Catalan pistols from the 18th century [2022]: these are two outstanding pistols manufactured in Catalonia in the mid-18th century.
- Atlas Polar Engine diesel model [2020]: a stationary diesel engine manufactured in 1920 by the company Atlas Polar Engine, and kept at the former Cabrianes textile factory town.
- Clepsydra by the artist Bernard Gitton [2020]: this is a water clock designed by the French physicist and artist Bernard Gitton and donated by the Sabadell bank.
- 17th-century navy flintlock [2019]: an outstanding example of a 17th-century navy flintlock, a type of muzzle-loading pistol typical of Catalonia and used mainly between the 16th and 17th centuries.
- Bultaco Metralla MK2 and Patria trike [2019]: two legendary motorcycles manufactured in Catalonia – a Bultaco Metralla MK2 from 1974, and a Patria trike from the 1930s.
- Mixed truck [2018]: this truck provided the goods and passenger transport service on the Cava - Seu d’Urgell line between 1962 and 1986.
