Starting in March, the National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC) is organising guided visits and workshops for users from different centres belonging to Terrassa Health Consortium (CST).
Guided visits and workshops are scheduled in the Museum for users of the Terrassa Mental Health Centre for Adults, the Community Rehabilitation Centre and Sant Llàtzer Old Persons’ Home. It was decided that the activities for these collectives be held in the Museum instead of the CST facilities because of the multiple benefits provided: the inclusion of emotional and experiential aspects; the chance to move about and away from their usual setting, taking part in stimulating activities; encouraging interest and discovery, and strengthening the relationship with surroundings, peers and the monitors of the museum.
In contrast, the activities for patients hospitalised in the geriatric and paediatric departments at Terrassa Hospital are carried out at the hospital itself. In this case, mNACTEC monitors travel to promote the Museum in a different way, organising workshops in collaboration with the Hospital’s volunteer service.
The activities on offer to these collectives are the result of the joint work of mNACTEC and CST to adapt the visits, activities and teaching materials of the Museum to the users of the facilities of the Consortium.
