The National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC) has opened to the public the travelling exhibition "Sport, industry and modernity", showing the relationship between the origins of modern sport, and scientific, technological and industrial development in Catalonia. The exhibits are on display until 12 November 2023 at the MNACTEC, following which they will travel around a number of towns in Catalonia.
The emergence of modern sport can be traced to the final third of the 19th century, evolving rapidly up to the outbreak of the Civil War, which brought an abrupt halt to the evolution of the technological, social and economic advances begun through sporting pursuits during the Industrial Revolution.
