The Departament de Territori i Sostenibilitat de la Generalitat de Catalunya has renewed the environmental quality assurance hallmark of the Museu Nacional de la Ciència i la Tècnica de Catalunya (MNACTEC), awarded in 2015. The new certificate is valid for three years.
The environmental quality assurance hallmark is a Catalan ecological labelling system which recognises products and services that surpass certain environmental quality requirements beyond those established as mandatory by the regulations in force.
In the cultural facilities category: Libraries, Museums and Collections, the environmental criteria established by the environmental quality assurance hallmark focus on optimising energy and water consumption, reducing waste generation and increasing the use of environmentally preferable products and services.
The environmental criteria for the cultural facilities category are divided into nine subsections setting out the basic mandatory criteria and/or optional criteria for which points are awarded: energy savings and efficiency; water savings; waste management; purchasing; mobility; efficient use of spaces; environmental classifications; noise and vibrations, and environmental information and education.
