Agreement with Lafarge Cementos

The collaboration includes the museum arrangement, design and production of an exhibition

The Director of the Catalan Cultural Heritage Agency, Àlex Susanna, and the Industrial Director of LafargeHolcim, Raúl Pérez Suárez, signed a partnership agreement for the Museum arrangement, design and production of the exhibition "From Asland to LafargeHolcim. A hundred years of cement", to mark the centenary of the factory located in Montcada i Reixac. The signing was also attended by the Director of the National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC), Jaume Perarnau.

The arrangement will serve to showcase the history of the company that is now Lafarge Cementos, from its founding as Asland (the Asland General Asphalt and Portland Company) in 1901, to its position today as a leading multinational in the sector, belonging to the LafargeHolcim Group.

The exhibition "From Asland to LafargeHolcim. A hundred years of cement" will open on 26 October at the Asland Cement Museum in Castellar de n’Hug, one of the mNACTEC's three main sites.. The display will cover the history of the factory in Montcada i Reixac beginning with its origins in Castellar de n’Hug. The idea is to focus on the constant technological innovation undertaken by the company, and to explain the process of manufacturing Portland cement, along with the different types and applications of cement.

The exhibition will be on permanent display at the Asland Cement Museum in Castellar de n’Hug, although for the first half of 2017 it will be presented in Montcada i Reixac, to coincide with the centenary celebrations of the LafargeHolcim factory.
