Palau Forge in Ripoll

A notebook presenting an account of the history of this Catalan forge and its production process

The ground floor is occupied by the foundry, with the water pumps, the hammers, the coal store, the furnace and the forge. In a separate section from the workshop is the water wheel, the water run and the basin used to store water from the River Freser, to move the wheel and generate the flow of air, driven continuously as the defining feature of what is known as the Catalan forge method.
