The book contains a number of the photographs taken by the Italian photographer Elisabetta Pini. The images show the characteristic industrial landscape of potash mines, textile colonies and factories, and also the men and women who are the true protagonists of this section of the river. An introductory chapter summarises the industrial history of this section of the River Cardener, based on the industrial exploitation of water and salt.
