Exhibition ‘Industrial past, spaces of oblivion’

A selection of 70 photographs by Frank Gómez documents the evolution of industrial landscapes in Catalonia

Until 14 January 2018 the ESPAId’ARTS at the National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC) will be holding the exhibition ‘Industrial past, spaces of oblivion’ by photographer Frank Gómez. This photographic exhibition documents the evolution of industrial landscape in Catalonia.

The exhibition presents a selection of 70 photographs by Frank Gómez focusing on the state of oblivion of many of the industrial spaces throughout Catalonia, currently in a state of abandonment or which have now disappeared. Many of these were major driving forces in different sectors including engineering, architecture and economy.

The exhibition mostly features images taken between 1985 and 2017 of factories with different industrial activities, mostly textile, in different places including Terrassa, Sabadell, Castellar del Vallès, Manresa, Berga, Roda de Ter, Taradell, les Masies de Voltregà, Capellades and Barcelona.

The photographer

Frank Gómez Castrillo (Terrassa, 1968) has been working as a professional photographer since 1996. By chance, in 1985 he began to immortalize some of the industrial buildings in his city, Terrassa.
