Science Week 2014

The Museum organises various scientific showcase activities

The Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC) is once again this year offering a programme of scientific showcase activities to mark the 19th Science Week in Catalonia, this year being held between 14 and 23 November.

Within the context of the event, the MNACTEC will be holding an open day on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16, from 10:00 to 14:30 hours. On the Saturday itself, the Museum will be hosting the Terrassa History and Science Seminar, a scientific showcase event organised jointly with Terrassa City Council, with the aim of viewing the history of Terrassa from a scientific perspective. Courtesy of various speakers, the attendees will have the chance to explore the following themes: "The Geological Heritage of Terrassa", "The Torrent de Vallparadís, a window onto Terrassa 1 million years ago", "Terrassa, Material Paradise", "The Seu d'Egara" and "Einstein in Terrassa".

On Sunday 16 and 23 November the Museum will be offering family activities free of charge: Faraday's Cage, textile machines in operation, an experimental physics workshop (Sunday 16 only) and the chance to see the railway model in the exhibition "Transport" in operation.

The MNACTEC Educational Action and Technological Tools Seminar will be staged on Thursday, 20 November. This is a session intended for primary and secondary school teachers and those with an interest in technological innovation. The Augmented Terrassa app will be presented at the seminar, together with the MNACTEC's educational initiatives, and a practical demonstration of 3-D printers, together with a self-guided tour by tablet, Energy and Sustainability.
