Publication of ‘The Museum Project of the Pinyol Pharmacy in Llardecans’

This work by Eva Marín Aznar is the fourth to be published through the Francesc Salvà i Campillo research grant

The Museum Project of the Pinyol Pharmacy in Llardecans by Eva Marín Aznar has been published as the fourth work supported by the Francesc Salvà i Campillo research grant. The publication presents the project to adapt the Pinyol pharmacy in Llardecans, Segrià, from a twofold perspective: the historical reconstruction of the Pinyol family and their role within the rural community, and an analysis of the rich heritage that has been preserved there.

The Pinyol pharmacy in Llardecans is a space frozen in time, preserving the memory of a lineage of pharmacists who, over the course of generations, made a legacy out of science and community service. The pharmacy was founded in 1848 by Tomàs Pinyol Llop and remained in continuous operation for more than 150 years. When it closed, the pharmacy remained intact for decades. A restoration project was announced in 2021 to open it to the public, giving rise to a uniquely distinctive museum adaptation project.

The Francesc Salvà i Campillo research grants, awarded each year by the MNACTEC and the Ramon Muntaner Institute (IRMU), are intended to support research into the industrial, scientific and technological heritage, history and culture of Catalonia.
