Publication of the feature "Women Scientists And Technologists"

The audiovisual aims to highlight the contributions made by women to STEM disciplines

The National Science and Technology Museum of Catalonia (MNACTEC) has published the feature Women Scientists and Technologists, which aims to showcase the contributions made by women to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines, through interviews with Núria Salán, professor  at the UPC-Terrassa and president of the Catalan Society of Technology, and Sònia Estradé, assistant professor at the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering of the Faculty of Physics at Barcelona University, and president of AMIT-CAT.

The feature presents a number of examples of leading women in the field of science and technology who have historically been overlooked, such as Hedy Lamarr, Hildegarde de Bingen and Berta Ludwig. It also presents statistics about women currently studying on STEM courses in Catalonia and Spain, and suggests how to improve the presence of women in these disciplines.

Women Scientists and Technologists is the first chapter in El Telescopi, a series of brief features produced by the MNACTEC, reflecting on current issues in the world of science and technology and their impact on society, through the voice of experts.
