Publication of the book ‘The Ingenuity of Eiffel in Catalonia’

The work, by Lluïsa Amenós, is the result of research into the life and work of the engineer Gustave Eiffel

The National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC), and Rafael Dalmau Editor, have published the book 'The Ingenuity of Eiffel in Catalonia. Planning, manufacture and installation of iron bridges (1876-1888)', by Lluïsa Amenós. The work is the result of a research project into the life and work of the engineer Gustave Eiffel, with the aim of exploring his activity in Catalonia in greater depth. It likewise analyses the influence that Eiffel had on Catalan engineering and on the construction of major metal infrastructure projects associated with the terrestrial transport network.

This is a single-issue volume aiming to round out the partial and fragmented view conveyed by historical accounts, offering an initial approach to the wealth of documented records to be found about the projects undertaken by Eiffel.

The book offers readers historical, technical and personal details, such as the peculiarities of the constructions and structures, the production and installation model of the company Eiffel et Cie. outside France, the supply of raw materials, the marketing of products and services, professional relations with local institutions, professionals and industrial operators, and the disagreements between the great French engineer and his main partner.

The Ingenuity of Eiffel in Catalonia is the ninth title published within the "Industrial Heritage Topics" collection, directed and coordinated by the MNACTEC and published by Rafael Dalmau Editor.
