The Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC) is launching on Saturday, 1 October, its offering of family activities for the period from October to December. For the first time in its history, the mNACTEC will also be opening on Saturday afternoons, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
To publicise this development, from 5 o'clock on Saturday there will be an open day session and a special activity free of charge - "Zinematik: Optical games before cinema". The event offers young children the opportunity to experiment with a number of the devices, such as the camera obscura or praxinoscope, invented in an attempt to reproduce and preserve images of the surrounding world, and that look like something taken from a magician's stage props.
The programme of family activities at the mNACTEC aims to bring children from an early age into contact with scientific and technological heritage, through workshops and activities linked to the exhibitions and experiences at the mNACTEC.
October-December programme
The programme provides families with an insight into educational robotics, electricity, shadow theatre and surprising medical apparatus, among other aspects. It will also feature such long-standing activities as the dramatised guided tour "1909. A stroll around the factory" and Hispabrick Magazine Event 2016, the traditional gathering for LEGO® enthusiasts.
This autumn's programme includes activities for the youngest visitors, such as the dramatised tour "Playing with the Body", the workshop "The Urban Adventure" and an astronomical storytelling session, activities intended for children aged between 3 and 8, and incorporating dramatised and participatory elements.
The activities will cost one euro per participant from the recommended age upwards (Museum entry ticket not included).
