The National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC) is providing a new audioguide service for the exhibition “The textile factory” and the industrial past of the building of the Aymerich, Amat i Jover Factory, the current headquarters of the Museum. The audioguide is included within the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Visitmuseum app, an application for learning about the cultural and artistic heritage of the museums of Catalonia.
The content of the new audioguide for “The textile factory” shows the architecture and industrial past of the building of the Aymerich, Amat i Jover Factory as well as the labour organisation and the process for manufacturing woollen fabrics in an early 20th-century factory. The audioguide features 14 points of interest for the building and the exhibition of “The textile factory”, including a model of the building, the roof, the former industrial spaces (coal stores, boilers, chimney and steam engine), workers’ changing rooms and different machines from the textile production process.
The new audioguide from the mNACTEC is geared towards adults, especially tourists, and is available in four languages: Catalan, Spanish, English and French. Users can listen to it with the tablets available at reception in the mNACTEC or on their mobile phones (downloading the app or accessing the Visitmuseum web).
Catalan actress Victòria Pagès was in charge of providing the Catalan and Spanish audio. You can listen to the piece La maquinista, by Anselm Clavé, interpreted by Coral Cantiga.
