New archives in Cervera

The opening of the new archives has involved the transfer of around a thousand objects

The Department of Culture, through the Catalan Cultural Heritage Agency, has established a new cultural heritage archive in Cervera with the aim of achieving efficient and sustainable resource management while improving the conservation of research into cultural heritage.

The first transfer to take place to the new archive comprises the holdings of the mNACTEC. Overall around a thousand exhibits have been transferred, most of them large and heavy items such as steam engines, machinery used in textiles, printing and hydroelectric generation and a number of means of transport that were not on display.

The other items in the collection not on view, some 17,000 smaller artefacts, will be kept at the current mNACTEC archives in Terrassa.
