The National Science and Technology Museum of Catalonia (MNACTEC) has published a new Online Collections section on its website, where visitors can consult technical information and photographs covering 15,859 objects from the MNACTEC heritage collections. The objects published online represent nearly 70% of all those held at the Museum.
In accordance with the MNACTEC Acquisitions Policy, the objects are categorised in nine thematic collections: Household appliances; Graphic arts; Computation, electronics and telecommunications; Energy; Scientific and measurement instrumentation; Medicine; Production sectors and services; Audiovisual technology; Pre-industrial technologies, and Transport.
The online publication of the Collections forms a part of the MNACTEC digitalisation strategy, with the aim of providing unrestricted access to the objects that make up the Museum's collections on the part of both professionals and the general public. This is a living project with constant reviews and updates, which will gradually be expanded with new objects and details of interest about each of them.
