The National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC) has obtained the "Responsible Culture Space" badge awarded by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya. This badge recognises cultural spaces and facilities that adopt health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and that show a commitment to adopting social inclusion initiatives. There are currently 181 cultural facilities recognised by the scheme.
To obtain the badge, spaces must be registered in the census of responsible cultural spaces, created through Decree Law 44/2020 of 17 November. The creation of the census is a measure of the Department of Culture to alleviate the challenges facing the cultural sector during the pandemic and shows the commitment made voluntarily to achieve a high level of excellence in accordance with the fundamental role culture plays in the wider community.
Requirements for obtaining the badge
Cultural spaces aspiring to obtain the "Responsible Culture Space" badge must offer safety measures in light of the current COVID-19 related health crisis and meet all the conditions required by the relevant authorities within PROCICAT’s Action Plan framework for emergencies associated with potentially high-risk emerging communicable diseases. Cultural facilities aspiring to obtain the badge must have approved their own set of health measures for their space.
In addition, the cultural spaces that wish to be registered in the census accept co-responsibility for minimising the harmful effects that social isolation can cause and commit to working for social inclusion within the cultural sector.
