MNACTEC Bus ends its route around the country

The MNACTEC Bus will be drawing its travels to a close in Terrassa on Sunday, 14 December

The MNACTEC Bus travelling project of the  National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC) will be bringing its two-year journey around Catalonia to a close next Sunday, 14 December, in Terrassa, where it will be open to visitors at the MNACTEC from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Over the past two years travelling around the country, the MNACTEC Bus has visited 180 towns in 42 Catalan districts, all except for Barcelonès. Most of the places visited (62%) are small municipalities with a population of under 5,000.

A total of 46,427 people have had a chance to enjoy the MNACTEC Bus displays, with 18,333 taking a guided tour, and 28,094 visiting the facility independently.

The MNACTEC Bus features digital totems used to record the profile and level of satisfaction of the visitors. A third of users interacted with these devices, giving their visit an average rating of 'excellent'.

An innovative project

The MNACTEC Bus is an interactive, technological space, inviting the public to journey into the past, present and future of our society, diving into an innovative exploration of such topics as technological progress, energy transition, culture, transport and industrial heritage.

The aim of the project is to promote a new way of spreading scientific and technological knowledge among younger generations, with innovative formats, participatory experiences and a perspective of environmental sustainability, with a distinctly social approach. The project is likewise intended to bring the MNACTEC to people in more distant areas, prioritising towns in rural Catalonia.

Visits have been organised during its journey, along with a range of workshops, talks and activities focused on two major topics: the new social culture and change of model, and technology, science and knowledge for the ecological transition.
