The Governing Council of the National Science and Technology Museum of Catalonia (MNACTEC) convened its first meeting yesterday, 29 September, at the Palau Moja in Barcelona, in order formally to establish the body following approval of its creation by the Administrative Council of the ACPC (Catalan Cultural Heritage Agency) on 26 November 2020.
In accordance with Article 19 of the ACPC Bylaws (Decree 198/2013, of 23 July 2013), the Governing Council of the MNACTEC has the following functions: represent the Museum at the highest level, and supervise its activity; submit the Museum budget and budgetary settlement to ACPC management; submit the annual operational plan to the ACPC Administrative Council; define the strategy to improve the Museum's collections and facilities; propose prices and opening hours for the Museum's facilities, and oversee the actions of the Museum Director.
Likewise, in accordance with Decree 85/1998, of 31 March 1998, approving the Regulation of the Territorial Structure of the MNACTEC, the Governing Council of the MNACTEC also has the role of authorising and approving the inclusion and exclusion of members of its Territorial Structure of museums, and their functioning, programmes and organisation.
