"Francesc Salvà i Campillo 2020" grant awarded

The grant is organised by the MNACTEC and the Ramon Muntaner Institute

The first edition of the Francesc Salvà i Campillo research grant organised by the National Science and Technology Museum of Catalonia and the Ramon Muntaner Institute has been awarded to the planned study The Historical Memory of the Textile Industry in Alfarràs (El Segrià, Lleida), presented by historian Ramon Dalfó. The grant of 4,000 euros is awarded to a historical and/or heritage research project addressing the different fields which make up the heritage, history and industrial, scientific and technical culture of Catalonia (movable, immovable and/or intangible heritage).

The Jury highlighted the relevance of the study presented and the aspects of applicability raised. They likewise acknowledged the fact that this is a facet of industry that has attracted little understanding and study. The work includes a process to gather oral recollections, and stresses the need to do so while there are still people around who can talk about the period. The proposal will study a social context and region based on water at different points in history.

The members of the Jury similarly emphasised the high standard of the proposals presented, encouraging academics and researchers to continue their efforts in this regard.
