The Autonomous Government of Catalonia, through INCASÒL (the Catalan Land Institute), today began consolidation work at the former Asland factory, located at the site known as Clot del Moro in Castellar de n’Hug. The factory is now home to the Cement Museum, one of the sites of the National Science and Technology Museum of Catalonia (MNACTEC). The initiative will focus on arresting the process of deterioration suffered by those structures that still remain intact, in particular in the upper section of the complex, as well as general clearance of rubble from sections which have collapsed, currently affecting several areas.
The initiative is promoted and funded by the Catalan Cultural Heritage Agency of the Culture Department of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, which has commissioned INCASÒL to perform the work. The project has been drawn up by the architect Miquel Angel Sala Mateus and the works, with a budget of 497,447.96 euros (including VAT) will be undertaken by the 'UTE Valvia-Dipco' joint venture over a period of 10 months.
