Blog: ‘Iron. Industry, History and Heritage'

The blog addresses all aspects of iron heritage

The Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC) has set up the blog  Iron. Industry, History and Heritage,  intended as a virtual platform for discussion about steelmaking and metalworking heritage. The blog brings together numerous educational and bibliographical resources and addresses all aspects of iron heritage, including the productive stages from production itself to the resulting industrial operations.

The section "Iron in Art" presents a perspective on representations of iron and its role as an artistic object. Over the years, the plastic arts have often represented scenes of craftsmen. The blog reflects the numerous representations of ironworking in artworks belonging to all historical periods.

The new platform is an addition to the mNACTEC blogs  Women in the Industrial World , Optical Telegraphy , and the Museum's longest-standing publication, Industrial Heritage. The publication of blogs on specialist topics corresponds to the mNACTEC's aim to promote the understanding and dissemination of Catalan scientific, technical and industrial heritage and the history of industrialisation in Catalonia, at both the national and international levels.
