13th Modernist Fair at the mNACTEC

The Museum offers a special programme and open days

The Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC) staged open days during the Terrassa Modernist Fair, with a fun weekend programme on 9 and 10 May. The mNACTEC, in partnership with other organisations, wanted to play a part in this Terrassa celebration which is growing year by year.

The activities scheduled for Saturday included a demonstration of a Payà electric train and a steam locomotive, dramatised tours of the old factory and a dance show with characteristics of the ballets of the modernist era in the Museum Courtyard.

On Sunday the mNACTEC staged tours of the Museum's roof vaults; dramatised visits; demonstrations of textile machines, the model railway and the Faraday's Cage;traditional dances and Modernist giant figures, and a re-creation of the musical cafes of the era, featuring Spanish dancing, bolero classes, and Spanish classical flamenco dance.

In parallel with these activities, the mNACTEC had a stand at the Modernist Cities Fair, handing out free tickets for a number of the visits.

s a part of the mNACTEC educational programme, that includes training intended for teaching staff, in partnership with the Centre for Specific Educational Resources to Support Innovation and Educational Research, of the Department of Education of the Autonomous Regional Government of Catalonia.
