WE ARE CLOSING FOR AN UPGRADE!
The MNACTEC will be closed for improvement work until 17 September 2026.
We will still be busy with activities for schools,, online resources and on social media!
The exhibition draws on a selection of nearly fifty robots to reflect on the challenges faced by humanity in the light of the unstoppable development of these machines, and the possibilities they offer to transform the future.
"Robots" addresses the phenomenon of robotics through a selection of robots accompanied by both models and audiovisual and infographic presentations. Visitors step inside the world of robotics through exhibits including a life-size reconstruction of the 'mechanical knight' devised by Leonardo da Vinci, original exhibits from the late 19th century, some of the key robotic characters from science fiction, and examples of the latest humanoids.
The different sections of the exhibition feature dynamic elements explaining how each type of robot works, along with technical devices allowing visitors to interact with them.
The show, organised in partnership with Casual Robots, the Robotics Group of the Association of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia and the UPC university, will be on display at the MNACTEC until 18 September 2027.
The exhibition is made up of the following sections:
1.The first robots. Background and historical evolution of the technology.
2. Robots and education The potential use of robots for education and learning.
3. Almost human. Presentation and analysis of the main humanoid robots on the market and current trends.
4. Robots at the service of people. Explanation of the latest trends in service robotics.
5. Workplace specialisation. Presentation of the different uses of robotics in industry and research.
6. Science fiction. Imaginary technology and an analysis of the link between science and science fiction.
7. Get excited. Playful robotics and emotions, with examples of how a robot can generate and also display emotions.
8. Interact. Interact with different robots, with one-off demonstrations of advanced robotics.
9. Smart robots. AI integrated within robotics and its applications.
