Gabriel Lluelles, industrial designer

The show presents some forty household appliances created by the Catalan designer who invented the Minipimer hand blender

From 16 January 2025

The exhibition “Gabriel Lluelles, industrial designer” reveals the most distinctive household appliances designed by Gabriel Lluelles (Barcelona, 1923-2012), the industrial designer who best exemplifies the emergence and consolidation of the profession in this country.

The show features 36 everyday objects revealing his dual role as industrial engineer and designer (hairdryers, toasters, coffee mills, electric fans, blenders and liquidisers), along with original packaging, advertising and other previously unseen documents. His understanding of the manufacturing process allowed him to create innovative, functional and timeless objects, such as a juice squeezer pouring directly into the glass, a hand blender with a removable stem, and a vacuum cleaner concealed within a pouffe.

The exhibition was produced by the Alfaro Hofmann Collection, an organisation focused on showcasing its holdings of the culture of everyday objects, containing more than 10,000 exhibits of various origins. Its main building in the town of Godella in the Valencia region has some 400 household appliances on permanent display.
