The 7th Francesc Salvà i Campillo Research Grant, organised by the National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC) and the Ramon Muntaner Institute (IRMU), has been awarded to the researchers Anna Maria Sánchez and Daniel Acevedo, who presented their study proposal "The Chartreuse factory in Tarragona: urban transformation and worker memory".
The research grant, which recognises studies into the different spheres which make up the industrial, scientific and technological heritage, history and culture of Catalonia, is named after the Catalan doctor, physicist and meteorologist Francesc Salvà i Campillo, a pioneer of telegraphy.
The 4,000-euro bursary is above all intended to support the work of young researchers during their period of education or the early stages of their research work.
The jury highlighted the innovative approach proposed by the authors to their subject of study, the inclusion of a large number of eyewitness accounts linked to the worker movement connected with the Chartreuse factory in Tarragona, and the rigorous methodological proposal, along with the detailed working plan presented.
The jury emphasised their gratitude for all the participants, underlining the high standard of the proposals presented, and encouraging researchers and academics to continue their efforts in this regard. The jury likewise decided to appoint Ms Rosa Serra Rotes, who is herself a member of the jury, to monitor the project.
