The 3Cat platform created by the CCMA (Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media) has included within its catalogue the new Technology, Industry and Society collection, comprising 12 audiovisual pieces produced by the MNACTEC (National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia). This integration of content within the platform was made possible by a partnership agreement signed between the two institutions.
Technology, Industry and Society traces a journey through technology, science and industrial heritage, reflecting on current themes in the scientific and technological world, and their impact on society, through the voice of experts. The audiovisual pieces in the collection are selected from the audiovisual productions available on the MNACTEC Channel, the Museum's outreach channel in the field of science, technology and industrial heritage.
The 3Cat Technology, Industry and Society collection currently features 4 chapters from the series The Telescope, addressing technological topics; 4 chapters from the Key Exhibits series, focused on notable objects from the MNACTEC collections, and 4 episodes of the Documentaries series, covering themes connected with industrial heritage. The plan is for new MNACTEC chapters and series to be added to 3Cat over time.
The Technology, Industry and Society collection is currently also published on the SuperCampus, the exclusive SX3 platform for educational content in Catalan.
This collaboration between the MNACTEC and the CCMA is born out of the CCMA's ambition for 3Cat to become a public service and reference platform providing the general public with high-quality audiovisual content in Catalan. In pursuit of this goal, they have sought out alliances with other institutions to expand the platform's content catalogue in various spheres. Meanwhile, the inclusion of content on 3Cat provides the MNACTEC with greater reach and visibility for its educational audiovisual productions.
