Presentation of the new book 'Traces of light'

'Traces of light' is the first book from the new mNACTEC Collections series

The book launch for Traces of light. The Duran daguerreotype collection was held on Thursday February 16 at the mNACTEC. The presentation was led by Museum director Jaume Perarnau and the head of Conservation and author of the book, Oscar González.

Traces of light. The Duran daguerreotype collection is the first book from the new mNACTEC Collections series, which aims to showcase objects from the heritage archive of the Museum in an appealing and original format. An initial abridged version of the book led to the highly successful first virtual exhibit of the site Fotografia a Catalunya.

At a time when photography continues to evolve with increasing protagonism this book directs its gaze towards the birth of daguerreotypes and how it changed the perception that people had of the world and themselves forever. Traces of light provides the keys needed to appreciate the jewels of old photography, the virtuosity of the work of some of the earliest photographers and how society used this at the time.
