Open day at the Museum of the Sedó Colony in Esparreguera

The weekend of 17 and 18 February entry to the museum will be free from 10.00 to 14.00

The weekend of 17 and 18 February the Museum of the Sedò Colony is holding an open day to celebrate the Winter Festa Major in Esparreguera

Activity programme

  • Open doors from 10.00 to 14.00
  • Guided visits, free of charge with booking beforehand, from 12.00 to 13.00

The guided visit provides information about the structure and operation of an industrial colony which conserves a large 19th-century 1400CV turbine that supplied the necessary energy to the spinning and weaving sections of the factory. Visitors will be able to see a model of the colony and enter the turbine. In addition, the guided visit also explains the operation of a small hydroelectric power plant, which will make it possible to understand the system for hydraulic power. The visit concludes with a tour around the Museum basement.

Once the museum visit is over it is possible to walk around the colony and see the Broquetes waterfall, the aqueduct, the Sedó family home and the chimneys. These elements combined provide a glimpse into what the social life and the manufacturing process were like in an industrial colony.
