Lluís Muncunill, industrial architect

A journey through the work of the architect Lluís Muncunill, a landmark figure in Terrassa's industrial architecture

From September, 15 2003 to December, 31 2019

This exhibition is dedicated to the figure of Lluís Muncunill (1868-1931), the architect behind the Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover, home to the MNACTEC, and a landmark figure in Terrassa's industrial architecture, adapting the modernist style to industrial construction. It shows how industrial Terrassa was built, along with Lluís Muncunill's works in the city and in other towns.

The content is presented by means of graphical information and multimedia elements allowing for interaction through two touch screens. One displays a catalogue of more than a hundred buildings by Lluís Muncunill, while the other invites us to explore 25 key buildings, along with a virtual tour of the city. Visitors will see models of the former Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover, the Catalan vault construction system, and delight their imagination by observing the curved lines of the Masia Freixa.

The focal points of the exhibition are works that can still be seen today, and so encourage visitors to take a stroll around the industrial and modernist setting that modern Terrassa still preserves.
